M’amar Ibn Yazid and Kalada Ibn Asad’s Attempt to Martyr The Holy Prophet

(Dr. Imran Khan & Mufti. Shah Rafi Uddin Hamdani)

M’amar ibn Yazid was the bravest man of his tribe. Banu Kinanah used to take his opinion and obey him. The Quraysh complained him about the issues they were facing because of

Prophet
Muhammad’s preaching of
Islam
and they pleaded with him. 1 In response to their appeal, M’amar ibn Yazid assured the Quraysh not to be worried. He told them that he would personally visit Makkah and finish the matter for ever. He stated that, according to his estimate, Banu Hashim and their allies would not be able to fight him back as he had 20,000 well equipped soldiers and, he could pay blood money even many times higher than the custom of Arabia. He was holding a 7 feet long and 1 foot-wide sword and legends of his bravery were famous all around Arabia. 2 When he reached to Makkah, The Quraysh took him to Hateem and shown him Prophet Muhammad , who was offering prayer in Hijr and was in state of prostration. Prophet Muhammad did not pay any attention to him, neither did he shorten his prayer nor did he frighten. M’amar drew his sword and advanced towards the
Messenger
of
Allah
. When he reached nearer him, he suddenly threw his sword and started running back in state of panic. He was so frightened that he stumbled in his armour at Bab Al-Safa and fell down. He got up but his face was bled with the stones. He was running as one of the fiercest enemies was chasing him, until he reached the Batha, looking back. Qurayshite leaders washed the blood from his face and asked him about the thing which frightened him from Prophet Muhammad . M’amar disclosed that, when he approached Muhammad and wanted to attack him with his sword then, he saw two balled snakes which were throwing fire and their eyes were glimmering so, he ran away to save his life and decided not to harm Muhammad again. 3 Kalada ibn Asad Abu Al-Ashdd, was also incited by the Quraysh to kill the Messenger of Allah but he also got frightened and Allah protected His messenger from any harm. 4

Allah protected Prophet Muhammad from all his enemies and no one got successful in his plan. Al-Hakam ibn Abu Al-‘Aas mentioned that, once they wanted to attack Muhammad by the night during the prayer then they listened such a horrible loud noise that they thought all the mountains of Tihama would be destroyed because of the voice and would fell upon them. By the second night they again planned to attack the Messenger of Allah but they saw that both Safa and Marwa were in between them and the Messenger of Allah. 5
